Internal Assessment – Arrangements for Appeals
As you are aware, some of your exam work such as coursework, portfolios, or practical work, is assessed and marked internally by the school. You may not appeal against the mark your internally assessed work has been given but you may appeal against the procedures in place for assessing this work.
Should you wish to appeal against any of the procedures that have been used to assess your internally assessed work, you should put your comments in writing to the Examinations Officer, who will reply within 2 weeks.
If the Examinations Officer feels a hearing is necessary, a panel will be formed within 2 weeks to consider the issues raised. This panel will be made up of a member of the Senior Leadership Team and a second independent person e.g. a School Governor.
A copy of any decision made will be given to the candidate appealing against the procedures. Any subsequent liaison with the relevant examination board will be undertaken by the Examinations Officer.
It will be our intention to resolve any appeals as quickly as possible.
