Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to the new academic year at Mangotsfield School. It has been a pleasure to once again welcome students and their parent/carers into Year 7. We also welcome our new sixth form students. I am pleased to report that all students have made a great return to school and the new students are already settling in well.

Bath Spa University back in Mangotsfield Bath Spa University return to Mangotsfield this term to run their annual course for school teachers who wish to become middle leaders. For the past three years, Mangotsfield has hosted the course. Over twenty of our teachers have so far completed it and four more will be starting this year. They will be joined by teachers from all over South Gloucestershire who will study at Mangotsfield in two hour twilight classes from 4.30 to 6.30. These will run regularly over the next few months. The course covers many of the things that teachers will need to understand when they take up positions of responsibility. These include: understanding yourself as a person, understanding how teams work, learning how to manage change and being able to give advice and help to colleagues. We at Mangotsfield are delighted to host the course for a third successive year as we know how much our teachers have got out of it. Just as importantly, we firmly believe in the benefit to students of supporting our staff in training and professional development. |
