Catering Coursework Guide - July 2010
You should have started to complete your first piece of GCSE Coursework this term, worth 20% of your final grade. Due to many year 10’s being out of school for work experience and trips you may be at slightly different stages and so must all catch up to the same point over the holidays.
Below I have listed all of the work that needs to be completed by September 2nd 2010. All work must be word processed and in size 12 Ariel font please.

Costings
The details of how to complete these parts have already been given to students and are also in the coursework guide. The costing is separately explained with a suggested layout given.
These documents are available on the school project folders – DT Catering (link on the website to project folders). Click here to go to the log-on page.
In addition to the theory there is also the practical element of the coursework which will be completed in September – exact dates can also be found on the project folders.
You will be cooking four dishes in total; two dishes one day and another two on a separate day. All cooking will be carried out in your double lessons in the second and third week of the first term. You should already know what you are cooking and have taken recipes home.
On these days, if it is possible, it may be advisable to arrange transport as it could be quite heavy.
After completing the above written work and practicals there will be an evaluation to complete.
All of this completed coursework should be handed in by the October half term.
Your progress can also be found on the project folders- a colour coded spreadsheet will be green for complete, amber for in progress or red for not started when it should have been. I will keep this up to date in September for you to keep an eye on.
If coursework is not completed the catch up classes that are always available to students on Wednesdays will become compulsory.

A letter containing these details has been sent home to parents of students in year 10 doing GCSE Catering.
