Kingswood Partnership

Mangotsfield School is one of six schools in the local area that have created a partnership to work together. This means that we can offer students a greater range of courses and share expertise between staff. There are a number of joint ventures between our schools, and the Partnership has been recognised at National Level as a forward thinking and successful way of organising educational establishments. The six partner schools are Mangotsfield, The Grange, Downend, Kingsfield, Sir Bernard Lovell and Hanham High. The Partnership also has links to City of Bristol College.

The best two years of my life!”

Year 13 Mangotsfield Sixth Form student

Mangotsfield School Sixth Form is part of the Kingswood Partnership.  The Partnership has recently hosted a visit from OFSTED inspectors who reported that the Partnership was making “outstanding progress in implementing the 14-19 reforms”.  They rated the curriculum range, access and development asoutstanding” with anextremely wide offer for post 16 students”.  This opinion is supported by the students themselves:-

“Mangotsfield Sixth Form was definitely the best choice for me.  The teachers are very supportive and being able to do some lessons at other schools meant I could do all the subjects I wanted to do.  It’s not all about the lessons though; we also have lots of fun too!”

Mangotsfield students enjoy being based in their home school to study a wide range of courses; some travel to other centres to access additional courses, benefiting from the academic and social opportunities this provides.

Over the last few years Mangotsfield has enjoyed steadily improving results at Sixth Form level.  One of the great strengths of Mangotsfield is the emphasis placed on the information, guidance and support available to all.

Louise Bird, Head of Sixth Form, said “We pride ourselves on the help we give our students; they receive individual mentoring support and guidance with job and university applications.  Students are able to access materials and expertise that will help with a successful application and interview.  Progression rates between Year 12 and Year 13 and into higher education, employment or training are very good”.

OFSTED commented “Sixth Formers value the good academic guidance they receive from teachers and tutors“.

Sixth Formers are also encouraged to have a say in their own education and social events with Student Council representatives and the Student Committee.
