Last year a planning application by Taylor Wimpey to build 180 houses on Bryant’s Field (adjoining the school) was rejected by South Gloucestershire planners (see below). As yet there has been no appeal against this decision or a revised application submitted.
Large fence
However, in the last week of January 2011 you may have noticed the erection of a large fence around the site, which has blocked a well used footpath from Rodway Common to Pomphrey playing fields and Emersons Green.
Although not designated as a right of way, the path has been in common use for many years, and provides a safe, traffic free route to Pomphrey Hill and Emersons Green,
instead of using narrow pavements through the village. It also allowed direct
cycle access to the side entrance of the school, without the need for students to cross the staff car park at busy times of day.

Damage and grafitti
To get proper designation for the foot path we need parents or grandparents who have used this path over the years to contact us, or the council, to establish for how long and how heavily this route has been in use. The more people who can come forward the
better.
The erection of this fence has antagonised local residents and caused a number of incidents involving damage and graffiti to the fence. It would be very helpful to have the situation legally resolved as soon as possible.

February 2010
Planning Application Rejected by South Glos
The application was unanimously rejected by the South Gloucestershire Planning Committee at a meeting on Thursday 18th February 2010 on green belt grounds, but it is a matter of concern that the school's concerns on traffic were not accepted. It is thought likely the developers will appeal.
Governors are considering what further steps to take.
